Author Guidelines
Thank you for considering Optimizations in Applied Machine Learning (OAML) as a venue for disseminating your research. We aim to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed articles that contribute to the field of applied machine learning with a focus on optimization techniques and innovative methodologies. To ensure smooth processing and review, authors are requested to adhere to the following guidelines.
Article Categories
OAML accepts the following types of manuscripts:
- Research Articles: Comprehensive studies providing significant contributions to the field. (6,000–8,000 words)
- Review Articles: Summarizing the state-of-the-art developments in applied machine learning and optimization. (6,000–10,000 words)
- Short Communications: Brief articles reporting novel findings or methodologies. (2,000–3,500 words)
- Case Studies: Practical applications of machine learning optimizations with real-world implications. (3,500–5,000 words)
- Perspectives and Commentaries: Insights into emerging trends or debates in the field. (1,500–2,500 words)
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be prepared in clear, concise English, following the structure outlined below.
1. Title Page
- Title: Reflect the content of the manuscript concisely.
- Authors: Full names, affiliations, and corresponding author with email address.
- Keywords: 4–6 relevant keywords for indexing.
2. Abstract
A succinct summary (200–250 words) highlighting the objectives, methodology, key findings, and significance of the work. Avoid references in the abstract.
3. Main Text
The main body should follow a logical structure:
- Introduction: Define the problem, review relevant literature, and state the contribution.
- Methodology: Describe the proposed optimization techniques and experimental setup in detail.
- Results: Present findings with tables, figures, and appropriate statistical analysis.
- Discussion: Interpret results, highlight limitations, and suggest future directions.
- Conclusion: Summarize the primary findings and their implications.
4. References
Follow the IEEE referencing style. (Detailed instructions provided below.)
5. Figures and Tables
- Include high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi).
- Use concise captions. All figures and tables should be cited sequentially in the text.
- Submit figures and tables as separate files along with the manuscript.
6. Supplementary Material (if applicable)
Additional materials, such as datasets or detailed proofs, may be included as supplementary files.
Formatting Guidelines
- Document Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word or LaTeX (with accompanying PDF).
- Font: Use Times New Roman, 12-point font for the main text.
- Line Spacing: Double-spaced.
- Margins: Set to 1 inch on all sides.
- Sections and Subsections: Use a clear numbering hierarchy (e.g., 1, 1.1, 1.2).
Reference Style: IEEE
References must follow the IEEE citation format. Use numerical citations in square brackets within the text (e.g., "[1]"). Below is an example reference list:

Submission Process
1. Initial Submission
- Submit via the online submission portal [link].
- Include a cover letter addressing the relevance of the manuscript to OAML.
2. Peer Review
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review. Authors must anonymize their manuscript before submission. Ensure:
- No identifying details in the main text or file properties.
- Separate Title Page containing author information.
3. Revisions
Authors will be notified of the review decision and may be asked to revise the manuscript. Provide a detailed response to reviewers’ comments along with the revised submission.
4. Final Submission
Upon acceptance, upload the final manuscript, figures, and supplementary materials through the submission portal.
Publication Ethics
OAML adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are expected to:
